Join India for a showing of the “Diagonal” documentary about her hike and a slide show and stories about backpacking her own routes from the SE to NW state corners in 2020 and NE to SW in 2022. At age 54, never having met a major physical challenge and feeling stuck in life, she decided to learn to stand on her own two feet as a solo female adventurer. Her journey was possible because she went “diagonal” as a listening Boulderite with farmers and ranchers who offered help and friendship as she sought places to hike, camp, and cache water. Her challenges included loneliness, bad maps, plains windstorms and heat exhaustion, San Juans hypothermia, Teller County desperadoes, and a Vail bear with a nose for chocolate.
